The Software Industry is increasingly becoming the driving force in the IT  industry As we step into the 21^st century, it is emerging as the industry of everyday life, providing the essential productivity and efficiency tools on which other  industries depend. It has already changed the very fabric of society and will continue to do so, providing the basis of innovation, opportunity, investment,and national wealth. We are now in the Information Age and life will always be  different because of it.

The Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) is the apex body of computer software and related services industry in Nigeria. It was formed in 1999 with the primary objective of being a catalyst for the growth of the software-driven IT industry in Nigeria.

It was specifically set up to facilitate business and trade in software and related services  and to encourage the advancement of research in software technology. It is a nonprofit organization.  It will serve as a single point of reference for any information on  software industry in Nigeria.
